Ralph Stover State Park
Ralph Stover (aka High Rocks) State Park is located about 1 hour from both Philadelphia and Allentown. Ralph Stover State park offers long pitches of climbing in a gorge overlooking the Tohickon creek. The argillite rock here is a sedimentary rock that climbs similarly to sandstone. Argillite at Ralph Stover is often a touch softer than the sandstone of the East, so it polishes easier and can make footwork tricky. With routes ranging from 5.1 - 5.12+ there is enough here to challenge anyone.
If you’re finding yourself tired out mid-climb, simply turn around and bask in the gorge’s stunning scenery, and look forward to a dip in the creek before heading out.
We’re excited to take you to one of our favorite PA gems.
